Curtiss is a partner with Kroll Heineman Carton and practices all aspects of traditional labor law including arbitration, litigation, negotiations, administrative proceedings, counseling and advice. He has experience in the construction, transportation, manufacturing, warehousing, hospitality, service and health care industries as well as in the public sector. Curtiss regularly represents clients in connection with negotiations, grievances and labor arbitrations, NLRB elections and unfair labor practice proceedings, secondary boycotts and strikes, public employment hearings and PERC proceedings.
Curtiss is admitted to practice in New Jersey and before the United States District Court in New Jersey. He earned his J.D. from Rutgers Law School- Newark, and his B.A. from Rutgers College, New Brunswick. In Law school, Curtiss was research assistant to Alfred Blumrosen; interned with Judge Martin Greenberg, J.S.C., Chancery Division – General Equity, Hudson County; The corporation Counsel for the City of New York, and the National Labor Relations Board, Region 22 – Newark; he was also a law clerk for Cohen Weiss and Simon, LLP, in Manhattan. Curtiss received the New Jersey State Bar Association Labor and Employment Section’s Award and Scholarship, earned Rutgers’ Law School – Newark George Pellettieri Labor Law Award and Scholarship, and was recipient of the Hudson County Bar and West Hudson County Bar Scholarships. He is originally from Chicago where he was a member of the UFCW and Amalgamated Meat Cutters Union.
